“PARENT SUPPORT LEADS TO LONG-TERM RELATIONSHIPS & FUN TIMES”

For a number of years, Marie Dela Cruz & other SDRC Service Coordinators have provided support to the Filipino American Association for Developmental Disabilities (FAADD). FAADD is a family support group that meets once a month through social, recreational and educational events. It is a nonprofit tax exempt organization whose mission is to provide information and support to people with developmental disabilities and their families with the purpose to enhance their quality of life.

Through FAADD, the Filipino American community is educated about developmental disabilities and Regional Center’s services through networking with other FILAM community groups. In addition to monthly support group meetings, annual FAADD activities include a Christmas party with 150-250 participants. A Summer Picnic, & trips to Disneyland. Training sessions on Respite. SSI, IHSS, Conservatorship, Special Needs Trust, Behavior Issues, Living arrangements, Supported Living, Day Programs, Transition, etc. are provided.

Thank you to all who have extended themselves to meet the unique cultural needs of this group.
Great work!
